Walter J. Zamosky, of North Versailles, peacefully passed on Sunday, September 15, 2024, at the age of 93. Walter was the devoted husband of the late Dorothy (Bednarick) Zamosky. He was the loving father of Pamela (Jeff) Varchetto, Jeffrey “Jeff” (Deann) Zamosky, and Janine (Mike) Karpen. Adoring grandfather of Matthew Varchetto, Mallorie (Tyler) Trocano, Zackary (Jamie) Zamosky, Scott (Jessica) Karpen, and Michelle (Bez) Cummings; great-grandfather of Allison, Ava, Gianna, Nico, Brenna, Theo, Anderson, Eliza, and Gwendolyn. In addition to his wife, Dorothy, Walter was preceded in passing by his parents, Walter and Elizabeth Zamosky, and siblings, Betty Rodman, Victor Zamosky, and Rita Dobrick. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Walter was a lifelong member of St. Robert Bellarmine Church. He was a proud U.S. Navy Veteran. Prior to retirement, he worked at the Union Switch and Signal for 38 years. He was a Life Member of North Versailles Fire Dept., with 74 years of service. During his tenure with the fire department, he served as President of South Wilmerding Volunteer Fire Dept. and Vice President at Sunset Central Fire Dept. Walter was an avid Steeler and Pirate fan.
Family and friends are welcome on Wednesday, from 2pm to 8pm at the Alfieri Funeral Home, Inc., 201 Marguerite Ave, Wilmerding, Pa 15148, 412-824-4332. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, at 10am at St. Robert Bellarmine Church of Mary, Mother of God Parish. Walter will be laid to rest, with Full Military Honors, on what would have been his 94th Birthday, beside his beloved wife, Dorothy, at Good Shepherd Cemetery, Monroeville.
