Sylvia (Liveratti) Zibrat, age 88, of Wilmerding, passed away early Friday, March 3, 2023. The daughter of Peter and Onorina (Peduzzi) Liveratti. She was born on August 5, 1934.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband of 65 years, Norman John Zibrat, whom she married on August 17, 1957. Her children; Scott David Zibrat (Stephanie) of Arizona, Janet Gmiter (Keith) of Gibsonia and Nancy Paull (Mark) of Illinois. Grandchildren; Jaclyn (Patrick) Sork, Melanie Zibrat, Natalie Gmiter, Justin Paull, Austin Paull, and Elliott Gmiter. Also survived by her sister Angelina Bruce, cousin Theresa Hickman, sister in law Velma Liveratti and daughter in law Susan Zibrat.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by beloved daughter, Laura (John) Kurutz, brother Pietro Liveratti.
Sylvia was a lifelong resident of Wilmerding where she graduated from Westinghouse Memorial High School and raised her family. She was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend who always put her family first.
Sylvia received her RN degree at Allegheny General Hospital where she was employed her entire career in the Labor, Delivery, and Postpartum Maternity departments. She loved helping new moms and their babies. Upon retirement she continued working as a school nurse for the East Allegheny School District and a volunteer nurse at Camp Kon-O-Kwee.
Sylvia was a pillar of the community always dedicating her time and contributions. She was an active member of the St. Jude’s Rosary Society, Sub Alpine Italian Club, Wilmerding Woman’s Club, longtime Board Member of the Wilmerding YMCA, CIAC, volunteered St Vincent DePaul, and docent at The Trafford Playhouse.

Family and friends are welcome on Tuesday from 1pm to 7pm in the Alfieri Funeral Home, Inc., 201 Marguerite Ave, Wilmerding, Pa 15148, 412-824-4332. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10am in St. Jude the Apostle Church of St. Joseph the Worker Parish. Please meet directly at the church.
