Sara ‘Sally’ (Laird) Locke passed away peacefully on June 7 at the age of 77. Her cheerful nature and good cooking will be missed, especially her spaghetti sauce. She loved her oldies and could usually be found dancing and humming along as she stirred the sauce. Sally had a bit of a competitive streak and loved games of all kinds—bowling, bingo, baseball; as long as you could keep score she was happy. Playing cards and games of all kinds with her sisters was a favorite pastime.
Born to the late George and Dora (Wickman) Laird, Sally grew up in Wilmerding along with her brothers and sisters: Thomas, George, Mary (Konscol) and Judy and the late Jack, Anne (Salvador), Patricia (Rodgers), and Charles.
Sally raised three boys with her former spouse Norman Locke: Vance (Audra) Porter, Brian and Norman ‘Casey’ Locke. She was ‘Granny’ to three grandchildren: Jared, Tyler and Jillian Porter. And of course she will always be Aunt Sally to the dozens of nieces, nephews and extended family.
In addition to being a devoted homemaker, Sally worked at Rene’s Restaurant as well as the Giant Eagle stores in North Versailles and Harrison City. She never met a stranger and will be missed by her friends in Turtle Creek and Trafford, where she spent her remaining years.
A Celebration of Sally’s life will be held on Sunday, June 12 from 2pm - 6pm in the Alfieri Funeral Home, Inc., 201 Marguerite Ave, Wilmerding, PA, 15148, 412-824-4332. Please visit us at, www.alfierifuneralhome.com for online condolences.
