Ruth (Jessup) McWhinney

Ruth L. (Jessup) McWhinney, of Wall, peacefully passed on Friday, February 7, 2025, at the age of 85, with her family at her side. Ruth was the loving mother of Darlene “Missy” (Jim) Pawlowski and Denny McWhinney, mother-in-law of John Pawlowski. She was the special sister of Jake (Barb) Jessup and Martha Michale. She is also survived by her son-in-law, numerous grandchildren, and many friends. She was preceded in passing by her children, Donna Bench, David (surviving Kim Jamison), McWhinney, Debbie Tykarski, and Dale Ray McWhinney, and parents, David and Ruth (McClarrion) Jessup, and grandchildren, Anthony Jamison, Bra’Nyia, and Jennifer Bench.

Ruth worked for Eastern Area Adult Services for numerous years. She loved caring for people and never turned anyone in need away. Her doors where always open to everyone. She also enjoyed playing cards. Ruth was a strong woman who raised 6 children on her own. She endured much sadness in life loosing 4 children and 3 grandchildren. Faith in Jesus Christ gave Ruth the strength.  Above all, Ruth loved her family and the time she spent with them, especially for holiday dinners. 

Special thank you to the nurses, Sonja and Gina, Pastor Gary LaPietra, Pastor Ed, and Very Rev. Joe Cervo. Her daughter, Missy and grandson Brandon were amazing caretakers for Ruth especially during the last year.

Family and friends are welcome on Tuesday from 3pm to 8pm at the Alfieri Funeral Home, Inc., 201 Marguerite Ave, Wilmerding, PA 15148, 412-824-4332.
