Patricia M. (Schrock) Beckner Obituary

Patricia Margaret (Schrock) Beckner

September 25, 1934 - May 17, 2021

Patricia Margaret (Schrock) Beckner was born on September 25, 1934 in Jeannette (Penn), Pennsylvania. She passed away in Ligonier on May 17, 2021 at the age of 86. She was the oldest of six children of Wilson Schrock and Nora Kelly Schrock. She is predeceased by her parents, brothers Wilson “Tubby” Schrock Jr., James “Jimmy” Schrock, and sisters Susan “Susie” Schrock Krautz and Sarah “Sally” Schrock Degolia. She is survived by her beloved son Joseph (BJ) Beckner (Beth Ujevich Beckner) of Ligonier, brother William “Billy” Schrock of Ligonier, and granddaughters, Erin Beckner Conlin (Tad) and Ashley Ryan Beckner, both of Shadyside, great-grandson, Fitzpatrick Conlin,  and many nieces and nephews.

Growing up, she was a member of Saint Boniface Catholic Church in Penn. She graduated from Jeannette High School. She was smart, hardworking and ambitious. She spent the majority of her career at General Tire in Jeannette, where she rose through the ranks to become one of the company’s first female executives - an accomplishment that defied both the social conventions of the times and the challenges of her background. She was  the owner of two restaurants, Sportsman’s Inn in Jeannette and the Brass Junction in Greensburg, Pennsylvania, both of which she operated with good humor, remarkable savvy, and her trademark pencil skirts, silk blouses and high heels.  She ended her career with the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission.

She will be remembered for her intelligence, quick wit, electric green eyes, and signature lipstick.  She loved to read, knit, travel with her granddaughters, and delighted in a good game of pinochle with her son and brother. She was a purveyor of good food and wine, a friend to all animals, follower of sports, and architect of many a casino trip with her mother and sisters.

Services will be private. The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Ligonier Gardens for their long-term compassionate care, as well as her recent treatment team at Magee-Women’s Hospital. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Action for Animals Humane Society in Latrobe, www.afashelter.org.
