Mary Saula, 93, of Greensburg, formerly of Penn Twp., passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at St. Anne Home. She was born on November 29, 1929, in Adderly (Pitcairn), to the late Marko and Milka (Hajdin) Padezanin. She married the late Samuel Saula on September 17, 1955, and together they raised two daughters and a grandson in a warm, loving, and, thanks to Mary, spotless home in Penn Township. After a brief career as a dance instructor for Arthur Murray, Mary worked for many years as a waitress at Ann’s Diner in Pitcairn, which was owned by her sister and brother-in-law, the late Ann and Denny Liptak, and for nearly twenty-five years at Westmoreland Country Club in Export. Known to her family by her childhood nickname “Babe,” Mary enjoyed bingo (often), beer (a little less often), the Pittsburgh Steelers (when they weren’t “lousy”), and in her later years, her hand-held poker machine. Most of all, she loved her daughters, son-in-law, and grandson, who were her pride and joy. Those who knew her will always remember her hearty, infectious laugh. Mary was a member of St. Nicholas Serbian Orthodox Church, Monroeville and the Serb National Federation. She is survived by her daughters, Kathy Saula-Dobrosky of Latrobe and Karen (Tom) Saula-Baranick of Penn Twp, her grandson Alex (Nicole) Saula of Milwaukee, WI, great-grandson Zoran Stevlic, also of Milwaukee, sisters Angeline (late William) Bianchi and Pauline (late Anthony) Petrocelli, and sister-in-law Sava (late Dusan) Saula and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Mildred (James) Hazi and Ann (Denny) Liptak, and two brothers, Milos (Violet) Padezan and George (Dorothy) Padezan. Mary’s family would like to thank the nurses and aides at St. Anne Home and the staff of Independence Health Home Care and Hospice who cared for her compassionately, often telling her daughters that they loved her.
