Mark Anthony Gentile, forever 39, of North Versailles, PA passed away unexpectedly at his home on February 23, 2025.
A graduate of Penn State University, he spent his career with US Airways/American Airlines, where he became a tireless champion for flight attendants. He served in elected leadership roles, including vice president and regional representative with the Association of Professional Flight Attendants (APFA). Mark was beloved by his APFA colleagues, who were family to him.
A lifelong boater and master storyteller, Mark had an incredible gift for bringing laughter to any situation. As his sister loved to say, “When he walked into a room, he knew how to light it up.” No one left his presence without feeling better for having been in it. Uncle Mark was renamed by his adoring nephews as “Uncle Fun.”
Mark had a big heart and a generous spirit. He especially had a soft spot for animals, kids, the Steelers, boats, and of course, “the ladies.”
He was preceded in death by his wonderful and loving father, Anthony Gentile. He is survived by his mother, Jennie Gentile, his adoring sister, Maryanne (Frank) Gentile Torok, his three devoted nephews and their wives: Justin (Cassie) Torok, Collin (Haruka) Torok, Jordan (Rachel) Torok, seven loving great nephews and nieces: Kara, Ken, Julia, Joe, Clark, Luke, Jake, and a host of adoring cousins and friends.
He will be profoundly missed.
Friends will be received from 2:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday, February 28th at Alfieri Funeral Home, Inc., 201 Marguerite Ave, Wilmerding, PA 15148, 412-824-4332. A Blessing Service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 1st in the funeral home. Mark will be laid to rest at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, North Versailles.
