Kevin Kurpecky Obituary

Kevin Kurpecky

Beloved Brother, Son, and Uncle passed on July 8, 2020 at the age of 52. Kevin is survived by his loving sister, Tamara (Michael) Nelson, nieces and nephew Nicole (Christian) Scherer, Jennifer, and Dylan Nelson, great-nephews Arden and Cullen Scherer, and great-nieces Autumn and Claire Nelson.  He is also survived by several cousins and many friends. He was preceded in passing by his parents Richard and Barbara (Korem) Kurpecky, and nephew/Godson, Michael Nelson. Kevin loved learning about history and passing that knowledge onto others. He lead a life of service working for both the Woodland Hills and Penn Hills School Districts where he taught students who were homebound due to long term illness, injury or other reasons. Kevin even took his service elsewhere as a volunteer, participating in rescue and clean-up efforts in New York City after 9/11 and teaching blind children how to ski through the Lions Club of Deep Creek. Kevin frequently travelled throughout the country to see all the beautiful scenery it had to offer, explore different trains and railways, and attend sporting events and concerts. Kevin loved the Rolling Stones and was a Pittsburgh sports fan. He made his acting debut as a featured actor in a commercial for the Pittsburgh Pirates. Kevin enjoyed the outdoors and frequently went skiing, canoeing, and on long bike rides. Above all, he loved his family and enjoyed the time he spent with them. Kevin will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Family and Friends and welcome to the Alfieri Funeral Home, Inc., 201 Marguerite Ave, Wilmerding, Pa 15148, 412-824-4332, on Thursday from 5pm to 8pm.
