August 4, 1946 - April 24, 2021

Peacefully passed on Saturday, April 24, 2021 with his family by his side. Joseph was the devoted husband of Sharon (nee George) Cheripka for 52 years. He was the loving father of Joseph (Erin) Cheripka Jr. and Melissa (Pat) Baxter; adoring grandfather of Dylan, Donovan, Braydon and Joey. He is also survived by his mother, Helen (Byrd) Cheripka; siblings, George “Sonny” (Chris) Cheripka, Richard (Betty) Cheripka, Theresa (Larry) Lugar, Helen “Lena” (Frank) Eggleston and Vince (Lisa) Cheripka; sister-in-law, Betsy (Bob) Petrocelli; numerous nieces nephews and friends. Joseph was preceded in passing his father, George Cheripka. Joseph was a proud Veteran of the United States Air Force. He enjoyed being outdoors, especially hunting and gardening. His grandchildren were the center of his life, and he cherished the time he spent with them. Family and friends are welcome in the Alfieri Funeral Home, Inc., 201 Marguerite Ave, Wilmerding, Pa 15148, 412-824-4332, on Wednesday from 4pm to 8pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday at 10am in St. Colman Church of St. Joseph the Worker Parish. Masks and social distancing are required in the funeral home and church.
