John T. Matiasic, 90, of Monroeville, passed away Tuesday, August 16th in Virginia Beach, where he resided with his daughter, Joanne, since last June.
John retired from Thorofare Supermarket and after retirement drove school bus for Gateway School District. He was a Korean War Veteran who loved saxophone in the army band.
John was an avid Steelers Fan and classic car enthusiast who enjoyed listening to polka music.
He loved spending time with family and friends, camping and traveling with his wife of 56 years. He was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Wilmerding.
He was preceded in death by his wife Claire, and parents, Catherine and Joseph Matiasic.
He is survived by a sister, Dolores Stiles of South Carolina, 4 children, John Matiasic Jr., Kathy Kifer (Bill), Diane Fink (Roger), Joanne Thomas (Ed), as well as 6 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are welcome in the Alfieri Funeral Home, Inc., 201 Marguerite Ave, Wilmerding, Pa 15148, 412-824-4332, on Friday from 4pm – 8pm. A Blessing Service will be held in the funeral home on Saturday at 11am. John will be laid to rest, with Military Honor beside his beloved wife, Claire at Penn Lincoln Memorial Park.
