Janet Stojanovic Obituary

Janet (Ferree) Stojanovic, 73 peacefully passed away February 11, 2022 at UPMC Family Hospice. Janet was the daughter of the late Robert and Dorothy Ferree and grew up in East McKeesport, but was currently residing in Plum Boro with her beloved husband of 53 years, Robert Stojanovic. Loving mom of Bobbi Lydon and her beloved grandson Shane Lydon. Sister of Susan (Ferree) Brattina and Margaret (Ferree) DiNapoli.

As a young girl, she enjoyed many outdoor activities such as fishing, softball, swimming and going to church summer camp. In her teen years she enjoyed participating in various school activities such as cheerleading and chorus. She loved riding “Hotrod”, the family’s horse, and all animals in general.

After graduating high school, she went to work for Bell Telephone as a Customer Service Representative until moving to State College with her husband. After returning to East McKeesport she had various jobs, she was employed by Prentiss Hall Publishing as a Sales Representative selling audio visual aids and books to elementary schools in the Southwestern Pa Region and worked for Bell Telephone in the Engineering and Construction Department as a CAD operator.

Jan was very talented and artistic and had various hobbies and home businesses. She raised Pekinese and especially enjoyed showing them at dog shows and had two AKC Champions. Some of her hobbies turned into home businesses such as her wedding/all occasion cake business and a One Stroke Painting business where she not only sold various painted items, but also taught classes on the One Stroke painting technique to others. She also painted wall murals in homes and businesses.

She continued to enjoy all outdoor activities into her adult life which included camping, water skiing, golf, tennis, and fishing. She loved going to the Masters Golf tournament and marshalling at the 1992 Women’s OPEN Championship at Oakmont.  She was a member of the Girl Scouts of Plum council and a Brownie Troop Leader taking her Troop on various camping trips and outings. She also enjoyed feeding the wildlife on our property especially our resident Bluebirds, which ate thousands of mealworms every year while raising their young. Taking in stray cats and rescues was also a pastime of hers, we were never without a cat or two in the house.

Jan was an avid Pittsburgh Penguin fan and worked for the Penguin Organization baking specialty cakes. She also was included in the organization’s events such as the Mario Lemieux Celebrity Golf Tournament and the Hall of Fame Induction Ceremonies for Mario in Toronto.

Jan will be greatly missed by all who had the good fortune to know her. A celebration of her incredible life will be held on February 19 2022  from 2:00pm until a service at 6:00pm at Alfieri Funeral Home, 201 Marguerite Ave, Wilmerding, Pa. 15148, 412-824-4332.
