Janet Theresa McClelland, of Clairton, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was 82.
Born on June 9, 1943, Janet was the daughter of the late Joseph and Teresa (Sammartin) Demis. A proud majorette in her youth, she went on to attend beauty school and later owned and operated her own beauty shop, where she helped others look and feel their best.
Janet was a woman of many talents. She worked in several local restaurants including the Brown Derby, Holiday Inn, and Eat N’ Park, and served as President of JM Bumpers, a business she helped run with her late partner of 45 years, Milenko “Bumper Mike” Cvihanovich.
She loved casinos — especially slot machines — and was affectionately known by her family as the “Queen of the Machine.” Janet also enjoyed gardening, sewing, crocheting, knitting, ceramics, and baking. Her holiday chocolate candy creations, home-cooked meals, and desserts were staples at every family gathering.
A talented bowler, soprano singer, and musician, Janet played keyboard and triangle with the band The Walker Brothers. She was also a published poet, and her creativity was matched only by her warmth and devotion to those she loved.
She is survived by her children: Lisa (Jake) Connelly of North Versailles, Michele McClelland (Greg Kielton) of Plantation, FL, William McClelland, and Joceyline McClelland (Matt Yorchuck) of McKeesport; her sister, Joan (Gene) Arnold of Florida; seven grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Jacqueline McCall of Churchill.
Janet will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and her beloved dog, Booba.
Family and friends are welcome on Wednesday, from 2pm to 8pm at the Alfieri Funeral Home, Inc., 201 Marguerite Ave, Wilmerding, PA, 15148, 412-824-4332.
