James Gibson Obituary

Please join us in raising a glass in celebration of the nine lives of Mr. James H. Gibson, formerly of East McKeesport, who never gave up, but finally gave in, after many years of several serious illnesses.

A double shot of bourbon, a relaxing afternoon of fishing, conversing about cars, a Pittsburgh Penguins game, a comfy seat in front of a slot machine, and teasing his caregivers, nurses and doctors were all things Jim couldn’t resist.

Born October 7, 1935 to Mary Katherine Denne and Arthur B. Gibson, “Jimmy” was the next to the youngest of 11 siblings: Mary, Grace, Jean, Edna, Peggy, Helen, Betty, Leonard, Henry and Art.
Jim was the husband of the late Carolyn Trunzo, who passed away on April 4, 1999. They would’ve been married 67 years this December.
He was “Dad” to two loving daughters: Nancy of White Oak and Karen of Philadelphia; “Pap” to two precious granddaughters: Jaime of Brooklyn, NY and Cara (husband Patrick) of North Versailles; and “Pap Pap” to three wonderful great-grandsons, who meant the world to him: Julien, Miles and Cooper. Jim loved his little cat, Max, who is being cared for by his neighbor and “adopted daughter”, Natalie.

The Gibson Family would like to extend their most heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Pal Muthappan, without whom Jim would not have pulled through as many medical emergencies as he did, as well as Jim’s Special Angels (you know who you are!), the wonderful staff at William Penn Care Center, who showered him with affection and friendship. Our family is forever grateful.
If you would, please honor Jim’s memory by doing something nice for someone in need. Check on an elderly relative, make a meal for an infirm neighbor, or just simply be kind to one another. He’d like that.

Per James' wishes, all services will be private. Arrangements are in the care of Alfieri Funeral Home, Inc., Wilmerding. Please visit us at, www.alfierifuneralhome.com for online condolences.
