Claudia Jo Homitz, of East McKeesport, peacefully passed at Caterbury Place, on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at the age of 68. She is survived by her loving and devoted companion of over 40 years, Danny Adams. She is also survived by Shawn Adams, who she considered her step son. She was preceded in passing by her parents, Peter and Norma (Crimmel) Homitz. She is further survived by cousins, Geraldine Homitz, Joyce (Joe) Tomasic, and Cathy (Sean) McLain, special friends, Sherry Warner and her daughter Danielle, dear friend and coworker, Ruth Thomas, bowling and softball teammate, Debbie Spigelski.
Claudia held various jobs over the years including, Purchasing Manager at the Radison in Monroeville, and Secretary for the Mail Handlers Union. She also established a private banquet business called Steel City Catering which was located in the George Westinghouse Castle. She served as a Trustee on the board at the Ukrainian Citizen Club in Wilmerding. She also worked at Angie's Restaurant, Wilmerding.
Claudia had a love of sports. She played on a woman’s softball and bowling team. She was picked as a contestant on the show Bowling for Dollars. She also enjoyed going to bingo and trips to Rivers Casino. She was a kind and compassionate person who was always willing to help everyone in need. She had a quick wit and was quick to make everyone laugh. She had a soft spot in her heart for animals and a deep love for her cats. She was a devoted daughter to her parents and cared for them in the golden years.
Claudia’s journey started at Magee Woman’s Hospital about 2 years ago with her diagnosis of Endometrial Cancer with her friend Kathy Maurizi. She never once complained and kept her sense of humor.
The family wanted to thank her friends, Kathy and Joe Maurizi, doctors, John Zisko and Shannon Rush, for their excellent care and compassion.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Claudia’s memory can be made to the Animal Rescue League or the ASPCA.
Family and friends are welcome on Monday, from 4pm to 8pm at the Alfieri Funeral Home, Inc., 201 Marguerite Ave, Wilmerding, Pa 15148, 412-824-4332. A Blessing Service will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday at 11am. Claudia will be laid to rest at Restland Cemetery, Monroeville.
