Claire A. Stitzell - McGuigan

Claire A. Stitzell – McGuigan, of Wilkins Twp., passed away on Friday, May 10, 2024, at the age of 76. Claire was the loving mother of Theresa (Ben) Edwards. Adoring grandmother Timothy and Khloe. She is also survived 3 special friends, Denise Wool, Sylvia Gruber, and Christine Zappile, her beloved dog, Sunny, and many other family and friends. She was preceded in passing by her husband, James “Jim” McGuigan, her parents, Harvey and Helen (Werl) Stitzell, and brother Douglas Stitzell. 

Claire was a graduate of Indiana State University of Pennsylvania and Penn State University. She worked as a Dietician for 14 years at Citizens General in New Kensington. She retired from the Steel Valley School District where she taught Family and Consumer Science at the Middle and High School. Claire was a devoted and faithful member of St. John Fisher Church. There, she was a CCD and Bible School Teacher for over 30 years. 

Family and friends are welcome on Thursday from 4pm to 8pm at the Alfieri Funeral Home, Inc., 201 Marguerite Ave, Wilmerding, PA 15148, 412-824-4332. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday at 10am in St. John Fisher Church of St. Joseph the worker Parish, Churchill. Everyone is asked to please meet directly at the church. Per Claire's wishes everyone is asked to NOT wear black. Claire will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Jim, and her parents, Harvey and Helen, at Restland Memorial Park, Monroeville.
