Annabell was born on July 16, 1954, in Braddock, Pa. She graduated General Braddock High school in 1972.  She married Elliott Ratner March 3, 1977 in Las Vegas.  They owned Ratner’s Hardware in Squirrel Hill for many years and were known by everyone.  Annabell also had Ann Ratner’s Place, a party store in Eastland Mall.  In more recent years she had loved working at Puff’s in North Versailles.

Annabell started volunteering her time at the age of 14.  She was a candystriper at Braddock Hospital.  Annabell’s love for her community and volunteering followed her throughout her life.  She was a former President of the Murray Ave Merchants Association in Squirrel Hill.  After the death of her husband in 2007, she moved to Holiday Park in Plum Pa, where she joined Holiday Park Volunteer Fire Department.  In her time with the HPVFD she conquered many roles.  She was Secretary, Chairperson of the Fish Fry, Chairperson of the Activities Committee, and volunteered every Thursday at their Bingo.  In 2012 Annabell received the United States Jefferson Award for improving her communities through volunteering.  And for the past couple years, she headed the activities committee at Plum Creek Acres where she lived.

Annabell loved spending time with her family and friends more than anything.  She loved all her pets, which held a special place in her heart.  She also had an incredible sweet tooth for candies and loved playing bingo at the community center. Annabell had always been a planner.  She was prepared in life and in death.  She stated in her last wishes that she would be remembered as “kind, a nice person and someone who would always help”.
