Agnese Chryssanthopoulos, born May 29, 1931, in Agrigento, Italy, to Mother Rosa Palazzi and Father, Girolamo Accardi both of Sicily, Italy, has passed peacefully on October 6, 2022, at the age of 91, in Pensacola FLA, United States.
Wife of the late Giorgio Chryssanthopoulos, of Constantinople and Athens Greece, loving mother to AnnaRosa and husband Salvatore LaManna, Olympia Chryssanthopoulos, Elena and husband Mark Laufer.
She is survived by her siblings, Elena and husband Gaetano Belfiore, Benito Accardi and wife Lilianna, all from Agrigento, Italy. Proceeded in passing, by her sisters, Giovanna and husband Salvatore Grissafi of Milano, Italy, Virginia and husband Anthony Lusetich of Wall, PA, Franca and husband Pino Lala of Palermo, Italy and brothers Pino Accardi and wife Titinna and Bruno Accardi and wife Nucchia, all of Agrigento, Italy. Further, she is survived by many loving family members throughout Italy, Greece and the United States.
Agnese’s life focused on family and surely was multi-cultural well before it was considered the norm. Growing to adulthood in Agrigento, Italy, she then, through marriage, followed her husband to Sardinia, Italy, Chios, Greece and Athens, Greece. Then finally relocating the family to the United States, to join her sister Virginia and for her children to gain higher education and opportunities, of this country. She remained here in Pittsburgh, PA and then joined by Giorgio upon his retirement, through his passing. Her final years were shared between Pittsburgh, PA and Pensacola, FLA, where she lived with her daughter Elena and Mark, until passing.
In each of the locations throughout the world, which she lived, Agnese embraced the local culture and learned its traditions, languages and made their ways, her, and her family’s ways. She gently touched each and left a loving mark on the people and places, she lived.
Family and friends are welcome on Monday, October 10, from 4pm to 8pm in the Alfieri Funeral Home Inc., 201 Marguerite Ave, Wilmerding, Pa 15148, 412-824-4332. A Trisagion Service will be held at 5pm with Father Joseph Cervo officiation. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10am at St. Jude the Apostle Church of St. Joseph the Worker Parish.
