A.Ruth (Leonard) Bacco, age 91, peacefully went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 15, 2022. Born in Mellon Plan (Monroeville) on February 25, 1931, Ruth was the daughter of Constantine and Mary (Moyer) Leonard, the devoted wife of the late Jim Bacco, and the loving mother of James (Paulette) Bacco of North Versailles and Barbara (Bill) Viola of North Huntingdon, beloved grandmother of Nina Bacco, Jacqueline (Jon) Burkett, Alison Viola and Joceline Viola and Step – grandmother of Bill (Jenn) Viola and Addie (Kevin) Krisfalusy. Ruth is also survived by sisters Rose Uchnar, Isabelle LaRue, and brother Clair Leonard as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her husband Jim, Ruth is also preceded in death by brothers Joseph Leonard, Martin Leonard, Edward Leonard, Carl Leonard, and Sisters Velma Mrdjenovich, Mary Alma Sullivan, and Theresa Rawson.
Upon graduation from St. Thomas High School in Braddock, PA, Ruth entered the work force at a time when few women worked outside of the home. Her career spanned 35+ years beginning in the offices of the Westinghouse Corporation and then the USS Corporation where she retired as an International Sales Correspondent. In retirement, she spent time between her homes in Florida and Pymatuning. She held a life-long love of reading and could always be found reading a current novel. In lieu of flowers, please honor her passion with a donation in her name to a local public library.
Family and friends are welcome in the Alfieri Funeral Home, Inc., 201 Marguerite Ave, Wilmerding, Pa 15148, 412-824-4332, on Friday from 11am to 1pm. A Blessing Service will be held at 1pm. The family kindly asks guest to please wear a mask. Ruth will be laid to rest beside her husband Jim, at New St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, North Versailles.
