Olga Marie Janik, age 92, formerly of Monroeville, PA passed away Sunday January 7, 2018 in Alexandria, Virginia where she had resided for the past 3 years. She was born April 7, 1925 in Mellon Plan, PA.

Olga was a member of the Union Presbyterian Church in Wilmerding where she served in many capacities to include Elder and Deacon. She was active with the Women’s Association leading the annual rummage sale and the strawberry socials.

Olga loved music, whether singing in the church choir or dancing to polka music with Ed, still playing her favorite songs on the piano at age ninety two. She was renowned for her baking, especially cookies and pies. She always made enough to share with her neighborhood friends.

After retiring from Gateway School District, Olga spent even more time cultivating beautiful flower gardens all around her house.  Admirers would frequently stop to enjoy the roses, azaleas, rhododendrons and perennials in bloom. Her home was her pride and joy.  In the summer Olga would be working in her yard and sitting outside until sunset.

Friends will be received at the Alfieri Funeral Home on Friday January 12 from 9:00 am followed by a service at 11:00.

She will be buried in Restland Memorial Park

In lieu of flowers, the family requests you plant flowers in your garden in Olga’s memory or a donation to the American Cancer Society.
