Michael Nelson

On October 29, 2019, Michael Richard Nelson, loving Father, Brother, Son, and Uncle passed away at the age of 33. Michael was born on January 7, 1986 in Pittsburgh, PA to Michael and Tamara (Kurpecky) Nelson. He received his degree from Duquesne University in 2009 and worked in a number of diverse fields from computers and electronics to landscaping, building and handyman.  He started a number of successful businesses and was passionate about the Pittsburgh region and sharing his knowledge with others.  Michael was a long-time participant in the Big Brothers/Big Sisters program in Pittsburgh, mentoring a number of boys during his time there.  He enjoyed the outdoors, he was frequently camping, fishing, hunting and playing golf.  He also enjoyed playing the guitar and drums and teaching his daughter Autumn about music and musical instruments. Michael is survived by parents Mike and Tammy, his daughters Autumn and Claire and his siblings Nicole (Christian) Scherer, Jennifer, and Dylan.  He is also survived by his nephews Arden and Cullen, his Godfather and Uncle Kevin Kurpecky and Aunts, Uncles, and many friends.  Family and friends are welcome to attend the viewing at the Alfieri Funeral Home, 201 Marguerite Ave, Wilmerding, Pa 15148, 412-824-4332, on Sunday, November 3 from 2pm to 8pm. The Funeral Mass will be held in St. Colman Catholic Church, Turtle Creek, on Monday, November 4 at 10am. The family is grateful for the condolences, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the family.
