On Sunday, March 12, surrounded by her family, Mary Jane Petruska passed away
at Forbes Regional Hospital. She was born on January 5, 1938, in Wilmerding, PA.
She was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Rosevitik) Petruska, and the late
Janet Petruska, her sister and best friend, who predeceased her by one week on
March 5, 2017. She is survived by her siblings, Kathryn (Charles) Schaeffer of
Cincinnati, John (Carol) Petruska of Turtle Creek, Judy (Arthur) Snyder of
Murrysville, and David (Maria) Petruska of Monroeville. Mary Jane was a loving
aunt to eight nieces and eleven great nieces and nephews.
She was retired from Kinney Shoes/Footlocker Corporation, where she began
selling shoes at the age of 15, and became the assistant manager of many local
Kinney shoe stores.
She enjoyed doing crafts, decorating the house for holidays, baking and making
pierogies at St Peter and Paul and St John the Baptist churches where she was a
very active and dedicated parishioner. Her greatest love was dancing the polka,
going to polka dances and going on polka cruises with her many dear polka
friends.
Visitation will be at Alfieri Funeral Home, 201 Marguerite Avenue, Wilmerding on
Thursday, March 16 from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm. A funeral liturgy will be held at 9:30
am Friday, March 17, at St John the Baptist Church, 1907 Eden Park Blvd.,
McKeesport, PA.
