Katherine "Kay" Salata peacefully passed away Saturday April 21st in UPMC McKeesport after a long battle with cancer. She was born in McKeesport March 5, 1926, the daughter of the late Frank Petrulli and Mary Ferrara Petrulli. Kay was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Samuel Salata; also by her brothers, Jack, Joe and Phil Petrulli, her sister, Nina Cernkovic, and dear niece, Kathleen Petrulli. She is survived by nieces and nephews: Jack (Debbie) Petrulli of North Huntingdon, Maureen Birmingham of Monroeville, Milan Ray (Alexandra) Cernkovic of Tarpon Springs, Florida, Naleen (Ed) Luketic of McKeesport, Mary Ann (Bill) Noblick of North Huntingdon, Joe (Gina) Petrulli of South Park, and Frank Petrulli of Woolwich, Maine, as well as many great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.
In her younger days she had worked for Crown Chocolate Co. in McKeesport and then as a sales clerk for Cox's department store until the time of its closing.
Having no children of her own, she was so very generous and loving to all of her nieces and nephews and cousins. Family was always first to Kay. She had such a fun sense of humor and was a delight to so many of her friends and will be sadly missed. CELEBRATION OF LIFE WILL BE ON WEDNESDAY EVENING AT ALFIERI FUNERAL HOME
