Joseph Bacco

Peacefully on October 3, 2017 age 98 of Wilmerding Pa. Joe passed away while in his family’s hometown of Agropoli, Italy while vacationing.  At the age of 98 he was very self sufficient.  He visited Italy every year for the past 20 years, exercised at the Wilmerding YMCA, attended church regularly and served as an usher. He was regarded as the “Greatest Generation” serving his country in the US Navy during WWII. He was also a boxer and wrestler in the 1940’s and was trained by Jack Ravestz. He retired from  the Westinghouse Airbrake after 44 years and continued working for Murrysville Golf Course for 19 years. He worked for Mario’s Mower Service up until last month. Loving father of Flora Bacco of Virginia. Brother of Frank (Theresa) Bacco. Brother in law of Christine "Teanie" Bacco, Ruth Bacco and Dorothy “Shorty” Bacco. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and cousins. Preceded in death by his wife, Mildred (Bruno) Bacco, parents Patsy and Mary Bacco and his 11 siblings. Family and friends will be received in Alfieri Funeral Home Inc. 201 Marguerite Ave Wilmerding 412-824-4332 on Friday from 2-8 Pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday at 10:00 Am in St. Jude the Apostle. Joe will be laid to rest next to his wife in New St. Joseph Cemetery with military honors to follow.
