Mayor, Michael "Mile" Evanovich died peacefully Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2016. Mr. Evanovich was formerly from Wall. He was residing with his daughter, Michele, and son-in-law Mark, in Ohio for the last eight years. Regarded as a member of the Greatest Generation, Mr. Evanovich served his country during World War II in the Army, was a former mayor of Wall, former ambulance driver of Wall, lifetime member of Wall Fire Department and Wall councilman. He was a member of Lodge SNF 7, former Justice of Peace, former president for many years at St. Nicholas Serbian Eastern Orthodox Church, Monroeville, coached Little League at St. Nicholas Church and was a dedicated member of his church, community and family. He was a son of the late John and Stanka (Gojkovich) Evanovich; husband of the late Dorothy (Romanishin) Evanovich; loving dad of John (Janice) Evanovich, Dennis "Dushy" (Margie) Evanovich and Michele (Mark) Vukelic; special Djedo (grandfather) of Julia (Mike) Karbowiak, Mike Evanovich, Dushan Evanovich, Bradley (Lauren) Evanovich, David (Amy) Reiche and Shawn (Kent) Wallisch; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by sister, Violet "Pepa" Medvecz; and brothers, Frank "Flip", Charles and Peter "Rack" Evanovich.
Friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Friday in the ALFIERI FUNERAL HOME, 201 Marguerite Ave., Wilmerding, 412-824-4332, with a Pomen service at 8 p.m. Prayers offered at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home, followed by services at 11 a.m. in Mr. Evanovich's church: St. Nicholas Serbian Eastern Orthodox Church, Monroeville. Interment will follow in Grandview Cemetery North Versailles. Memory Eternal.
