LUCILLE FLEMING GALEANO (GRIFFIN) (Age 90) Formerly of Arlington, Virginia, died peacefully on December 28, 2016 in Wilmerding, PA. Born in Clintwood, Virginia on September 21, 1926, Lucille was the wife of the late Louie Galeano and Woodrow Griffin and mother of Donna Lou McGill (Griffin) of Sterling, VA; Lynn Denise Schoepper (Griffin) of Plum, PA; and, Woodrow Wilson Griffin, Jr. of Lorton, VA. She is survived by two sisters, nine grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. LUCILLE FLEMING GALEANO (GRIFFIN) (Age 90)

Formerly of Arlington, Virginia, died peacefully on December 28, 2016 in Wilmerding, PA. Born in Clintwood, Virginia on September 21, 1926, Lucille was the wife of the late Louie Galeano and Woodrow Griffin and mother of Donna Lou McGill (Griffin) of Sterling, VA; Lynn Denise Schoepper (Griffin) of Plum, PA; and, Woodrow Wilson Griffin, Jr. of Lorton, VA. She is survived by two sisters, nine grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Lucille left southwestern Virginia just after graduation from high school in 1944 and relocated to the Washington, DC area where she worked for the FBI (meeting and shaking hands with J. Edgar Hoover), US Department of Agriculture and GEICO among others, ultimately retiring after16 years from Western Electric (now Lucent Technologies). In some of the notes from her early days in Washington she described sightings of Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt, as well as the May 9, 1945 relighting of the US Capitol Building as World War II came to an end. Lucille was always active in the local Arlington County Community serving in many roles including President of the Arlington County Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary on three separate occasions, while married to her first husband, Woodrow Griffin. Additionally, she lived in Florida then back in Reston, VA before relocating to Wilmerding, PA where she resided at the Evening Star and was visited often by family members. She could always be found engaged in solving word puzzles and keeping herself on a precise schedule.

A gathering of family and friends and viewing will be offered at the National Funeral Home, 7482 Lee Highway, Falls Church, VA on Thursday, January 5, 2017 from 11:00am to 1:00pm with internment following at the same location. A reception will be held at the National Funeral Home after the internment.
