Markel Jr., 90, of Monroeville, died Monday, Nov. 23, 2015. He was an Army World War II veteran and was awarded the Bronze Star in France for heroism. He was a son of the late John and Deliah Markel Sr.; beloved father of John M. (Mary Ann) Markel, William S. (Diane) Markel and James S. Markel; grandfather of John W. (Christy), Joe (Nicole), Ethan, Justin, Ashleigh and Courtney Markel; great-grandfather of Ben, Sam and Lauren Markel; and brother of the late Della Tyrell.
