James Izatt

October 19, 1931 ~ July 3, 2016 (age 84) 84 Years Old


 James Izatt went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, July 3, 2016. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Irene (Garton) Izatt; his only son, James George Izatt; and a brother-in-law, Allen O. Grimm Jr. He is survived by his former wife, Arlene Aston Izatt; daughter-in-law, Rebecca Diane Izatt; grandchildren, Lauren Lisa Izatt and James Hunter Izatt; a sister, Elaine (Izatt) Grimm; his aunt, Jean Garton Rutherford; also survived by many nieces and nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews who all loved him greatly and will always affectionately remember their "Uncle J." Jim was born and raised in Wilmerding and served in the Air Force during the Korean War. He later graduated from the University of Pittsburgh and worked for many years as a mathematical engineer. Jim enjoyed traveling, especially the time he traveled with his niece back to his father's hometown of Cowdenbeath in Scotland. He also enjoyed watching all sports on television and was a great fan of Pitt men's basketball. He was a devout Christian who loved the Lord and enjoyed attending weekly services at Covenant Church of Pittsburgh (CCOP). He also enjoyed music, spending time with family and friends, food and single malt scotch.
All family and friends are invited to a celebration of the life of James Izatt to be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, 2016, at the Covenant Church of Pittsburgh, 2110 Andrew Drive, Pittsburgh (Wilkinsburg), PA 15221. Arrangements were handled by ALFIERI FUNERAL HOME in Wilmerding.
The family wishes to express our deepest thanks to the staff of Asacare Hospice Services and the Golden Living Center. In lieu of flowers, Jim would have wished to be remembered most by everyone making a donation to the House of Bread Ministry, Ministry of the Homeless, CCOP, 11 Wood St., Wilkinsburg, Pa 15148
